At Kivu Belt Village Tours, we see tourism as a powerful force for good—driving conservation and community development. Our recent eco-volunteering event in Gishwati-Mukura National Park exemplifies this belief, demonstrating that collective action can lead to a healthier environment and stronger local communities.
A Day of Green Action in Gishwati
On April 2nd, 2025, we launched our tree-planting campaign with an inspiring event. Over 300 community members, alongside local authorities and environmental experts, gathered to plant 150 indigenous and fruit-bearing trees on degraded lands. These trees are vital for sequestering carbon, protecting soil, and supporting biodiversity. The effort was not just about planting; it was an educational experience that taught volunteers sustainable practices and highlighted the importance of combating climate change. Our mission was further amplified by the TED Countdown Conference in Kigali, which emphasized the global need for climate action.
